Wow...three hours. I did the uninstall/install in at most 15 minutes.

Took nearly and hour for me (not counting the unzip process itself), probably cause no ssd, not everyone has your rig. :)

I just tried to install onto my laptop and it cancelled the installation half way through after demanding that I insert disk #1. But it did delete everything, all my custom pictures, saved games, custom scenarios and and scenarios under construction, reference files and even the update files themselves. 1.5 hours wasted plus another 1-hour+ of download time should I want to repeat the process.

This happened after entering the user keys for the Queen Elizabeth and Falklands DLC.

Don't think that trying again on the laptop is worth the BS as long as the update system remains broken.

Looking forward to seeing the finished product!!

Installation failed for me.

I have my CMO installed on my C: drive SSD that stores all my programs and does not have much space on it left remaining, about 20GB, yet I have 4 other drives in the computer with lots of spare space on that.

My CMO directory is 30GB and when it came to uninstalling it, it was moving files to the "appdata" folder on the C: drive, eventually it crashed as it did not have the space on the C: drive to uninstall CMO.

Luckily, despite moving lots of files, after the crash, CMO still works, but, I now no longer have any spare space left on the C: drive so somewhere there has been a lot of files "probably placed into a temporary folder but I cannot find where, including in the "appdata" folders.

Perhaps moving CMO to another drive might resolve the issue, but not sure how.

Have just run the downloaded uninstall/install compressed exe file.
Uninstall seems to have gone fine, the application no longer exists on my computer. And this seems to be the problem because during the installation the routine reported an unknown decompression error on a file in "...\cache\WW\Relief_SRTNM3_Webp.mbtiles". I clicked on "Retry", but not suprisingly got the same error.
Tried to start again at the beginning. Routine reports base-game not found - so of course had to cancel.
Seems that there might a screwed-up byte or 2 in the downloaded data file, so I'm trying the Part 1 download again.
Before I rerun it, I'll restore the backed up version of the application I saved yesterday.
Will report on the result in due course.........

Downloaded (both parts) again - much more easily than yesterday.
Ran again and installed OK - except for Chains of War and Northern Inferno.

Not too fussed about those any more, so will continue with current situation and get my serial no's. accepted later.
I'm not sure what/where the original problem actually was, but the shotgun (aka shut down and re-boot) approach seems to have worked.

Same. Wanted disks 5 and 6 from me when installing main game. Bit annoyed.
Also, why has the ‘check for updates’ button on the game entry screen never worked?

Disks 5 and 6 are in the second folder. The message that pops up has a choose button so you can navigate to the other folder. Do that and installation will continue. Or move those into the first folder where the installer is before running it. Either method works fine.

As for the check for updates button. For many many people this button has NEVER worked, on ANY Matrix game, and it's been complained about for years on forums of multiple games. If Matrix Games hasn't fixed it by now, they either can't, or just never will. I don't bother and just go to the My Page of the web site and download from there.

Thanks Dave,
Really appreciate your help.
Sadly, the installation program managed to delete all my CMO files before it got stuck.
So I have no base game now for it to update. Back to Steel Panthers I guess. :)

Matrix keep including that useless update button on every release. Just, why?

It's really a full install so it should install now without the base game being there.
